The essays collected in this volume outline possible eleven reading path as many literary works by Ugo Foscolo, Elisee Reclus, Martin Conway, Conrad Kain, Amy Oakley, Lalla Romano, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Nanni Balestrini, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clézio, François Maspero and Melania Mazzucco. In considering a constellation of texts from linguistic areas, geographical, cultural and historical profoundly different, these pages are intended to offer the reader a number of starting points to query the network of relations linking literature and territory, beginning the cross-border region that covers both sides of the main watershed of the southern sector of the Western Alps, around and over the stretch between the Col di Tenda and the Colle della Maddalena.
Paul Matteucci was born and raised in Cuneo, graduated in Turin and holds a doctorate in comparative literature in Los Angeles. He currently teaches Italian language and literature at the University of Dalhousie Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada.
